A native macOS menu-bar app that lists how a prompt could be misread and turns it into a hardened template.
Built, v2.0.0
What it does
A native macOS menu-bar app that stress-tests prompts. Paste a prompt and it lists every way a literal-minded reader could twist it: vague words, absolutes, missing limits, unclear references, unscoped actions. Harden then turns the prompt into a fill-in-the-blanks template. AI review only when the user presses a button.
How it works
- Paste a prompt and the app lists ways it could be misread: vague words, absolutes, missing limits, unclear references, unscoped actions.
- Harden turns the prompt into a fill-in-the-blanks template with definitions, goal and success criteria, must and must-not lists, edge cases, output format and assumptions.
- Everything runs locally. The optional AI review only sends the prompt when the user presses a button.
- The editor turns off smart quotes, smart dashes and autocorrect, so what you copy is exactly what you typed.
Guardrails and design choices
- Everything runs locally. No remote calls except the optional AI review, which only fires on a button press.
- Local and AI results are always shown as separate, labelled sections. The AI never silently falls back to local rules.
- The prompt is wrapped in tags and the model is told not to follow instructions inside it.
Status
Built. v2.0.0 is a native rebuild in Swift 6, installable as a .app. It has a test suite covering the rules engine and the AI path. The original version was used as the spec and left untouched.
